SkinSteps

Affiliate disclosure

How SkinSteps makes a little money, and why it never changes the advice you read here.

Making and applying a minecraft skin is free, and nothing on this site tries to change that. A few links, though, point to things that do cost money, and some of those are affiliate links — meaning we may earn a small commission if you buy after clicking. Here is exactly which ones, and the rules we follow.

The two things we may earn from

  • The official Minecraft Marketplace, through Minecraft’s own affiliate program (run on Impact, launched in June 2026). It pays a small percentage on Marketplace and Minecoins purchases. Persona items and subscriptions are excluded.
  • Minecoins gift cards from resellers such as Eneba, which pay a small card commission. These are only relevant if you plan to buy Bedrock Marketplace content; you never need them to use a custom skin.

Every affiliate link on the site is routed through a /go/ address so you can always see where it goes, and each one is marked as sponsored. The commission comes out of the seller’s margin, so the price is the same for you whether you use our link or not.

We do not link “free Minecoins” generators, account sellers, or any scam — no matter what they pay. They are unsafe, often against Minecraft’s rules, and have no place in a guide aimed partly at younger players. If a page ever recommends spending money, it is because it genuinely helps with the task, not because of a commission.

Almost everything you actually need is free. Our main guide, how to change your minecraft skin, uses a skin you make yourself and costs nothing at all.
